Trump: Big price to pay for Syria chemical attack

United States President Donald Trump threatened to retaliate on Sunday against those involved in the most recent suspected chemical attack in Syria which left 70 civilians dead, claiming they will have a "big price to pay" and singling out Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Earlier, several activist groups in Syria claimed civilians were targeted with barrel bombs containing toxic gas in Douma, the last rebel-held enclave on the outskirts of Damascus.

"Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. Area of atrocity is in lockdown and encircled by Syrian Army, making it completely inaccessible to outside world. President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price to pay. Open area immediately for medical help and verification. Another humanitarian disaster for no reason whatsoever. SICK!" he wrote on Twitter.

Almost a year to the date, President Trump ordered an attack on a Syrian air base in response to the previous instance of a chemical weapons attack, which occurred in the town of Khan Shaykhun on April 4.
