May to join anti-Assad strike without MPs consent - report
The United Kingdom's Prime Minister Theresa May is ready to join the military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime even without the consent of the British Parliament, the BBC reported on Wednesday citing well-informed sources. The report comes in the light of the alleged chemical attack on the Syrian city of Douma on Saturday, which May described as "abhorrent" and reportedly vowed to never let happen again. Meanwhile, the leader of the Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn pointed out that a retaliatory airstrike against the Assad regime could escalate the situation in Syria.
Earlier today, the US President Donald Trump warned Russia, Assad's main backer that he would launch missiles on Syria in response to the alleged chemical attack he previously described as "heinous." He also accused Moscow of partnering with "a Gas Killing Animal," referring to the Syrian president. Later on, the US Defense Secretary Kim Mattis said that that the Pentagon is "still assessing" whether the alleged chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma justifies a military response from the US and its allies.
