EU could still retaliate to US tariffs - Tusk

President of the European Council Donald Tusk (pictured) stated on Wednesday that the European Union might still retaliate against the tariffs imposed on steel and aluminum imports by the United States President Donald Trump in March, despite receiving a temporary exemption from the punitive measures. Speaking before the European Parliament about the outcome of European Council's last meeting in March, Tusk added that the EU economy has returned to the levels of growth last seen before the 2008 crisis.

Turning to the ongoing Brexit negotiations, Tusk said that he sees a positive momentum in the talks while at the same time urging the UK to help solve the Irish border dispute as soon as possible. The official also expressed support for this weekend's airstrikes carried out by the US, UK and France against Syrian over its alleged chemical attack in Douma.
