Wall Street closes mixed amid earnings season

Stock markets in the United States closed mixed on Friday following earnings reports today and after the closing bell yesterday. Tech giants Intel, Microsoft and Amazon all posted their reports late last night, followed by Exxon Mobil and Chevron before open today. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump saluted the decision of North and South Korean leaders to sign a peace treaty and commit to the denuclearization of the peninsula. Trump also met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and reiterated his request for increased defense spending.

The Dow Jones ended the trading session down just 0.05%. Exxon Mobil Corp. lost 3.82%.

The S&P 500 gained 0.11% at the closing bell, as SVB Financial Group soared 18.74% after it released its earnings.

The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.10% to close in the green. Expedia group jumped 8.2% on better-than-expected quarterly sales.

The euro was 0.21% higher and went for 1.21286 at 10:02 pm CET.
