Trump: US, EU to work toward zero tariffs

The United States and the European Union agreed to work toward zero tariffs on industrial goods, US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday during a joint press conference with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker after their meeting at the White House. The two parties asserted they are to continue trade negotiations and resolve steel and aluminum tariffs.

Trump added that the EU will increase purchases of US soybeans almost immediately. Meanwhile, Juncker stated he came to Washington "to make a deal" and added that a satisfactory agreement has been achieved. "US and EU will hold off on further tariffs while trade negotiations take place," Junker concluded.

President Trump also said that "this was a very big day for free and fair trade," adding that both parties "will win."
