Freeland: NAFTA talks with US to resume on Tuesday

Canada's Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland (pictured) said on Monday that she will travel to the United States capital to resume the talks on overhauling the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The visit could be briefly interrupted by her Liberal Party's caucus in Quebec on Wednesday and Thursday, when she is scheduled to attend.

Last Friday, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said that the agreement is being postponed due to a disagreement on trade barriers Canada has on dairy imports from the US. The day before, Freeland stated that she looks forward to continuing talks with the US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, describing the renewed efforts to reach a deal on the revamped NAFTA as "constructive and positive."
