Russia and China to develop energy partnership

Moscow and Beijing are talking possible Russian gas deliveries via the Far East, Director of the Chinese National Energy Administration Nur Bekri (pictured) said. The shipment volume may amount to 5-10 billion cubic meters annually, Bekri said, adding that a deal might be signed in the first half of 2019. If endorsed, the deal will make Russia the biggest Chinese gas supplier.

Separately, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak stated today the two countries were planning to lift the restriction on pipeline oil supplies to China. The deputy PM said that the restrictions could be removed before the end of 2019, adding Moscow agreed to supply 1.7 million tonnes of oil to its neighbour via the Russian Pacific port of Kozmino in 2019.
