Freeland: Dairy producers still have 'full support'

Christina Freeland, minister of foreign affairs of Canada, said on Monday that the agreement about the remodeling of the free trade region with the United States and Mexico is "a victory" for her country. However, the government still intends to continue to diversify trade and broaden access around the world, in her words.

Dairy producers can continue to count on "full support," according to the top official. Canada's representatives managed to preserve the essential cross-border supply chains, she claimed. Freeland added the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, would maintain a regime of "trade based on rules." The deal is "fairer" for the auto workers and "helps to guarantee their future," she asserted. She highlighted the importance of the preserved dispute settlement mechanism.
