Pena Nieto: USMCA deals with trade's social impact

The United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement, or USMCA, was signed on Friday in Buenos Aires by presidents Donald Trump and Enrique Pena Nieto (pictured right) and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (left). Mexico's outgoing leader said the renegotiation of what was the North American Free Trade Agreement leads to integration for the societies in the continent and that it incorporated the social impact of international trade for the first time.

More sectors have been included, in his words. The deal extends the protection of workers' rights and the environment and it was devised so that it is easier to make changes. USMCA does away with economic uncertainty and brings together the values and expectations of the three countries, according to Pena Nieto.

Trudeau asserted there is much more effort to be made to lower trade barriers and urged Trump to keep working to end import tariffs for steel and aluminum.
