BT to remove Huawei equipment from 3G, 4G - report

BT Group Plc will remove all the Huawei equipment from "the core of its 3G and 4G networks as part of its network architecture principles in place since 2006," a spokesperson for the company told the Financial Times. The process should be completed in two years, the news outlet reported.

However, BT will still keep the technology of the China's telecommunications manufactures, which "remains an important equipment provider and a valued innovation partner," albeit on the less important parts of its infrastructure.

The United States reportedly warned network providers in allied counties not to use the Huawei equipment due to alleged security risks, while Australia and New Zealand banned the telecommunications giant from developing 5G networks with network carriers.
