Merck to acquire Antelliq for €2.1B

Pharmaceutical giant Merck announced on Friday it has reached an agreement to acquire privately held Antelliq Group, which specializes in digital animal identification, traceability and monitoring solutions, for approximately €2.1 billion in cash.

As a part of the agreement, Merck will assume Antelliq’s debt of €1.15 billion, which it plans to repay soon after the transaction is completed. The companies expect to close the transaction in the second half of 2019 after securing necessary regulatory approval.

"Animal identification, animal monitoring and smart data management are critical components of this transformative technology. This acquisition represents yet another way that we will ensure our place as a leader in animal health," Rick DeLuca, president of Merck Animal Health stated.
