European markets close mixed

Markets in Europe closed mixed on Monday, rounding off a turbulent year which will be remembered more for its losses than gains, as concerns over a no-deal Brexit remained strong and the yellow vests protests continued to rattle France.

The UK's FTSE 100 lost 0.09% at the close, marking the worst year for the index since the financial crisis, whereas the French CAC 40 climbed 1.12% as Valeo and Kering led the gains, ascending 3.91% and 3.55%, respectively The euro gained 0.11% against the dollar, buying 1.1454, while the euro zone's currency lost 0.68% against the British pound, changing hands for 0.8948 at 1:58 pm CET.
