EU to target Google's AdSense in fresh fine - report

The European Union is preparing another fine for Google's parent Alphabet in an effort to squash what the bloc is perceiving as the company's monopoly within the space of digital advertising, according to a report released on Thursday.

The penalty is said to target the AdSense service, a program allowing publishers to serve media advertisements which are, in turn, administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, according to the report released by Bloomberg. This represents another attempt by the EU to regulate the tech giant's advertising activities, following the recent confirmation by Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who officially announced the 3% tax on digital advertising revenues last week.

Meanwhile, Spain's government announced it would be considering a possible tax on Google, as stated by the country's Minister of Economy and Business Nadia Calvino.
