Trump: Can't say happy or thrilled with border wall deal

United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he is neither "happy" nor "thrilled" with the bipartisan deal to keep the federal government open past February 15. "I can't say I'm happy, I can't say I'm thrilled," he told reporters at the White House. "We'll see what happens," he added.

However, the president underscored that a border wall with Mexico will be built. Trump said that a meeting on the deal will take place later in the day, but highlighted he doubts another government shutdown would occur.

Earlier, lawmakers reached agreement on a government spending bill "in principle" to avoid another federal government shutdown. The deal includes around $1.4 billion for roughly 80 kilometers of new border barriers with Mexico, far below the $5.7 billion Trump demanded.
