Ubisoft, Mozilla to develop new AI assistant for coding

French video game giant Ubisoft Entertainment SA decided to team up with American software developer Mozilla Corporation to create a new artificial intelligence (AI) assistant to help coders discover bugs, TechCrunch reported on Tuesday. The coding assistant that will go under the name Clever-Commit, will focus on finding and flagging potential bugs through the use of regression data and the analysis of the code base's bugs.

However, the AI feature is unlikely to be open sourced, but it's still "being discussed," according to a Ubisoft spokesperson cited by the tech portal. Ubisoft has already released the first demo of the AI assistant last year, but Mozilla is now working on adjusting the tool to a wide range of programming languages, including Rust, C++ and Javascript.

"The Firefox engineering team will start using Clever-Commit in its code-writing, testing and release process. We will initially use the tool during the code review phase, and if conclusive, at other stages of the code-writing process, in particular during automation," Mozilla's Firefox Release Manager Sylvestre Ladru stated.
