Berkshire reduces stake in Apple to 5.3% in Q4

Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s filing with regulators on Thursday revealed Warren Buffett's investment empire reduced holdings of shares in Apple Inc. by 1.1% to 249.6 million in the fourth quarter. The company owned 5.3% of the iPhone maker at the end of the year.

Berkshire also sold the stake in Oracle worth $2.13 billion at the time, exiting from the cloud and software developer. On the other hand, it bought equity in Red Hat Inc. The stakes in JPMorgan Chase and Co., PNC Financial Services Group Inc., Travelers Cos., Bank of America Corp., Bank of New York Mellon Corp. and US Bancorp were increased in the three months through December.

The conglomerate bought 10.8 million shares of Suncor Energy Inc. and returned after exiting in 2016, according to the information given to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Berkshire lowered the stake in Phillips 66 by 22% or 3.5 million shares, while it sold four million shares of United Airlines, 15% of what it had at the end of September.
