Wirecard shares rise by over 8% after ban

Wirecard AG's stock jumped by more than 8% on Monday after a German regulator prohibited investors from shorting the company's shares.

Wirecard's shares were up 8.76% at 9:51 am CET. Earlier today, Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) banned investors from establishing or increasing the net short positions of the company's shares after recent events "resulted in uncertainty in the market, particularly with regard to the appropriate price determination for shares of Wirecard AG."

Wirecard's stock dropped by 33% over the past month amid allegations that it was engaged in fraudulent practices in Singapore.
