Walmart expanding ad business - report

Walmart Inc. is planning to expand its ad business by allowing consumer companies like The Procter & Gamble Company, Unilever PLC and Mondelez International Inc advertise to its shoppers.

The company previously worked with Triad Retail Market, a subsidiary of advertising company WPP plc, to sell space on its website and across the web, while also giving companies an option to advertise inside its stores in the United States. However, Walmart decided to move its online ad business in-house, while also bringing closer the digital and store ad teams, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday citing Walmart executives.

The retailer plans to outline the new ad strategy at a conference later today.
