Pound at highest since July before Brexit amendments vote

The United Kingdom currency increased once more on Wednesday, jumping to a seven-month high, as the market watchers await the upcoming debate in the country's House of Commons on the steps to be taken after the Brexit. In the evening, a vote on the proposed amendments regulating Britain's divorce from the European Union will be discussed, as the UK's Prime minister Theresa May earlier stated that she would reject an extension of Article 50 because "an extension beyond June would mean taking part in the European elections."

It also jumped against the Canadian dollar, rising 0.16% and changing hands for CAD $1.7481. The pound rose 0.22% compared to the Japanese yen at the same time, buying ¥146.870.

Against the Swiss franc, the pound was up only 0.05% at 11:49 pm CET, selling for 1.3260. At the same time, it gained 0.26% against the euro, changing hands for €1.1665.
