European markets trade in the green ahead of data

Major European stock markets opened on Friday in the green ahead of crucial economic data. The data on the United Kingdom's, German and composite EU manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Indices are expected during the day. Information on the unemployment rate, as well as the mortgage for the continent's largest economies, are also due after the trading bell.

The DAX rose 0.65% shortly after the open, led by Covestro AG O.N. gains of 1.52%, and the CAC 40 increased by 0.52% as Vivendi's stock price soared 3.85%. The FTSE 100 advanced 0.32% led by gains from Wpp PLC ORD 10P whose shares jumped 5.96%.

The euro traded in the red against the US dollar, losing 0.11% and buying 1.1361 at 9:14 am CET.
