Silver accelerates spike as palladium drops further

Prices of precious metals were mixed on Thursday as silver and gold accelerated their ascent, while platinum slowed slightly from earlier in the session. Palladium, on the other hand, fell further, nearing its daily low from earlier in the morning.

Shares on Wall Street dropped after a disappointing jobs report, while crude tumbled over 3% on fears of a global economic slowdown. On the other hand, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow told CNBC that trade talks with China have gone "further than ever before."

Silver jumped 2% at 4:48 pm CET to $15.32 per ounce, its one-week high. Gold added 0.80% at 4:49 pm CET, to go for $1.296 per ounce, while platinum increased by 0.27% to $816.37 per ounce.

After dropping more than 1%, palladium was 0.83% in the red at 4:51 pm CET, changing hands for $1.515.94
