Europe closes lower after poor Chinese data

European markets closed with losses on Friday amid fears of a global economic slowdown. On Thursday, the European Central Bank slashed its growth projections for the Eurozone, while China reported its exports dropped 20.7% in February compared to the same month last year amid trade negotiations with the United States.

The DAX dipped 0.52% as Thyssenkrupp dropped 2.58% as the worst performer. Meanwhile, the CAC 40 lost 0.70% with EssilorLuxottica plunged 6.95% after posting lower profit in its earnings report. In London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.74%; Gvc Holdings plummeted over 13%. The euro gained 0.52% against the dollar at 5:37 pm CET, buying 1.12404.
