Europe closes in the green after Brexit extension vote

European stock markets closed in the green on Friday as traders remained focused on the latest developments surrounding Brexit. Yesterday, the United Kingdom's House of Commons voted to back the government's motion to seek an extension to the Article 50 from the European Union. Meanwhile, the EU said it will only agree to a "technical" short extension of Article 50 if the UK's Parliament passes a withdrawal deal next week. Furthermore, market watchers digested the latest Eurozone inflation figures which stood at 1.5% in February, marking a 0.1 percentage point rise compared to January's level of 1.4%.

The DAX ended the trading session gaining 0.77% as Infineon Tech.'s shares advanced 3.97%.

The CAC 40 added 1.04% at the close after STMicroelectronics' stocks soared 5.28%.

The FTSE 100 rose 0.60% led by Whitbread PLC's shares rising 3.85%.

The euro added 0.15% against the US dollar, to go for 1.131 at 5:33 pm CET.
