SEC to hold public forum on DLT and digital assets

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission announced its Strategic Hub for Innovation and Financial Technology (FinHub) will hold an open forum with the focus on the distributed ledger technology (DLT), the database type which blockchain is based on, and digital assets on the last day of May.

"The forum will feature panelists from industry and academia, and is designed to foster greater communication and understanding around issues involving DLT and digital assets. Panelists will explore such topics as initial coin offerings, digital asset platforms, DLT innovations, and how these technologies impact investors and the markets," the regulator said in a press release.

Cryptocurrencies were on the rise following the news, as bitcoin increased 2.88% against the United States dollar to change hands for $4,013.32 at 11:27 pm ET, while ethereum traded 4.88% higher to $145.94 at the same time.
