EP committee votes in favor of revised EU Gas Directive

The European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) has voted to support the revised draft of the European Union Gas Directive, which aims to expand rules controlling the union's internal gas market apply to gas lines between member states and third countries and may affect the future of the Nord Stream 2.

"ITRE has just approved the deal Jerzy Buzek has negotiated with the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy on the EU gas market so it also covers gas pipelines from third countries with 33 votes to 8," the committee announced on its Twitter account.

Now, the revised version of the directive faces the European Parliament vote which is set to happen in April, as well as the final approval of the document by the Council of EU countries at the ministerial level.
