Norsk Hydro: Still looking for cyberattack solution

Norsk Hydro ASA confirmed on Tuesday that the company was still looking for the solution to the ongoing cyberattack which has disabled a large number of computers within the company. Representatives of the firm stated that the current priority was to identify all services attacked and clean the virus from the affected systems.

The company officials said that the daily losses in commodity trades were minimal, that the framework for managing the orders was running as normal and that the stoppages were encountered on the downstream side of commodity markets. They also added that the orders are being produced and that the future deliveries will be arranged on a plant-to-plant basis. "Even though the whole company was affected, some plants are hit harder than others," one of the representatives confirmed, adding that the virus infection was spread from the United States centers.

Norsk Hydro announced they were insured in the cases of cyberattacks and that the perpetrators were trying to establish contact for the ransomware payment. The company failed to disclose if it was considering making the said payment. Norway's biggest multinational firm earlier reported that the attack, as well as that its aluminum facilities continued to operate on a manual basis.
