European stocks mixed in early trading

Major stock markets in Europe traded mixed early on Thursday ahead of the key meeting of the European Council. Leaders of the EU are set to discuss the request United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May sent yesterday to delay Brexit until June 30. However, as recent reports indicated, there is no agreement in Brussels over the extension and most member states will insist on the May 22 deadline due to the scheduled European Parliament elections.

The FTSE 100 climbed 0.21% at 9:14 am CET. Fresnillo Plc surged 4.62% at 9:14 am CET. The DAX was 0.58% in the red at 9:15 am CET with Deutsche Bank as the worst stock on the index, losing 3.69% at 9:16 am CET. The CAC 40 fell 0.17% at 9:15 am CET.

Meanwhile, the euro was 0.06% lower compared to the dollar, going for 1.1406 at 9:17 am CET.
