China to buy 300 airplanes from Airbus

Airbus SE acknowledged that the general terms agreement signed on Monday with China Aviation Supplies Holding Co., or CAS, is for the delivery of 290 units from the A320 portfolio and another ten aircraft from the A350 XWB family. The deal was announced during the visit of the most populous nation's President Xi Jinping to France. When French President Emmanuel Macron was in China in January of last year, he revealed the two sides were looking at 184 jets.

The order by the aircraft lessor controlled by the Civil Aviation Administration in Beijing is worth €30 billion at list prices, but large quantities normally bring discounts.

"We are honored to support the growth of China’s civil aviation with our leading aircraft families – single-aisle and widebodies. Our expanding footprint in China demonstrate our lasting confidence in the Chinese market and our long-term commitment to China and our partners," said president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft Guillaume Faury, slated to become the aerospace giant's chief executive.
