House Dem leaders seek Mueller report by April 2

Democratic chairs of six United States House committees sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr, urging him to release the full report on the Russia probe by April 2, together with "the underlying evidence and materials." They argued that Barr's summary is insufficient for their respective committees to "perform the critical task" of overseeing US President Donald Trump's conduct.

The lawmakers added they must be allowed to "make an independent assessment of the evidence regarding obstruction of justice," after Barr said the report was inconclusive on that matter. They also made a comparison between the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private server for her email correspondence, stating that the Justice Department gave the panels, then controlled by Republicans, "thousands of pages of highly sensitive law enforcement and classified investigatory and deliberative records," among other documents.
