Precious metals in the green, platinum hits 9-month high

Precious metals traded in the green on Thursday as investors are on the lookout for signs a trade deal between China and the United States is near. Although it was reported US President Donald Trump may announce plans for a summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping later in the day, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow noted that the two are "not there yet" on a deal.

Gold gained 0.27% to $1,293.10 per one troy ounce at 8:41 am CET, while silver advanced 0.11% to $15.15. Meanwhile, the two precious metals used in catalytic converters, palladium and platinum were on the rise as well. Palladium climbed 0.19% at $1,411.10 per ounce at the time, while platinum soared 1.08% to $877.95, its highest level since June 2018.
