European stocks mixed in premarket trading

European stocks traded mixed premarket on Wednesday as investors digested upbeat data from China and focused on corporate earnings from the United States.

Fears of an economic slowdown eased after China reported better-than-expected GDP growth at 6.4%, as well as positive industrial production and retail sales data. On the earnings front, Netflix beat estimates with its first-quarter results, but provided lower-than-expected guidance for the second quarter. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley, PepsiCo and US Bancorp are set to report their earnings later in the day. Market watchers also awaited trade balance and inflation data from the Eurozone.

The FTSE 100 dipped 0.09% in premarket trading, while the DAX added 0.06% and the CAC 40 was up 0.10%. The euro rose 0.25% against the dollar to go for 1.1309 at 7:46 am CET.
