Wall Street slightly extends premarket gains

United States stock markets slightly extended gains in Wednesday's premarket trading following a series of fresh first-quarter earnings by major US companies. US Bancorp reported 4.2% higher earnings-per-share (EPS) compared to last year, while Morgan Stanley's revenue declined 7% annually in the same three-month period. PepsiCo's numbers came in above market estimates, with EPS and net revenue rising at an annual rate of 6% and 2.6%, respectively.

Risk sentiment was also lifted by higher-than-expected GDP growth in China, together with surging industrial production and retail sales in March.

The Dow Jones was up 0.21% in premarket, while the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.39% before the opening bell. At the same time, the S&P 500 increased by 0.23%. The euro was 0.21% higher against the dollar to sell for 1.1304 at 7:53 am ET.
