Europe ends mostly in the green after data, earnings

Markets in Europe ended a day of trading mostly higher on Thursday as investors digested the economic data and a string of corporate earnings from earlier today. Before the bell on Wall Street, Schlumberger Ltd., Philip Morris International Inc., Blackstone Group LP and American Express posted their earnings. Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that Deutsche Bank AG is readying an alternative plan for its investors for the case the merger talks with Commerzbank AG fall through.

German DAX gained 0.57%. Daimler was the main advancer, up 2.12%.

In France, the CAC 40 finished 0.31% higher. Scheider electric led the gains, increasing 2.72% at the end of the session.

London's FTSE 100 was the only index that traded in the red, down 0.15%.
