Wall Street ends mixed as earnings week kicks off

Markets in the United States finished mixed on Monday following the Easter holiday. Investment incentives were generally subdued as market watchers focused on a string of corporate earnings due for release throughout the week. Meanwhile, the energy market recorded the biggest gains after United States President Donald Trump's decision to stop granting temporary waivers that enable certain countries to import Iranian crude despite US sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.18% at the closing bell. Boeing was the biggest loser, down 1.29% after it was reported that it was treating its plant workers poorly.

The S&P 500 rose 0.10% at the end of the session, remaining relatively flat due to the declines in the real estate and materials sectors.

The Nasdaq 100 finished 0.31% in the green.

The euro gained 0.13% against the US dollar to go for 1.1258 at 4:04 am ET.
