ISIS claims responsibilty for Sri Lanka attacks

The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the bombing attacks that took the lives of more than 300 people in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, the group's Amaq propaganda agency stated on Tuesday, but without offering any evidence.

Besides claiming that the perpetrators of the attack were "soldiers of the Islamic State," the group added that the designated targets were the citizens of countries that took part in the US-led bombing of ISIS territories, as well as Christians.

Earlier today, Sri Lankan Minister of State for Defense Ruwan Wijewardene said that the attacks on several churches and hotels in the country were carried out in retaliation for the shooting of Muslims in a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.
