S&P 500, Nasdaq close at all-time high amid earnings

Equities on Wall Street finished the Tuesday's trading session deep in the green as the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 both closed at record highs. United States National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said his country has "gotten closer" to reaching a trade deal with China. Advisory consultancy Pensions & Investment Research Consultants told The Boeing Company's investors they should oppose the re-election of Dennis Muilenburg as the company chairman and chief executive officer.

The Nasdaq 100 was 1.26% higher at the end of the session, climbing past its previous peak close on August 29. Hasbro was the best performer, soaring 14.30%. The S&P 500 rose 0.88%, approximately one point higher than the all-time closing high set on September 20 last year, bolstered by Twitter's 15.59% gain following better-than-expected earnings. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.52% as United Technologies Corp. jumped 2.29%.

The euro was down 0.29% to $1.12247 at 3:59 pm ET. The British pound was 0.28% lower to $1.29440 concurrently.
