Europe trades mixed as focus remains on earnings

European stocks traded mixed early in the session on Wednesday as investors continued to focus on corporate earnings. Novartis, Credit Suisse and SAP were among companies that reported their quarterly results before the bell. Meanwhile, market watchers are awaiting results from Italian energy company Eni, as well as large United States firms, including Boeing, Tesla, Microsoft and Facebook, set for release later in the day.

The FTSE 100 declined 0.25% at 9:14 am CET. Anglo American led the losses as its stock slid 1.92% at 9:14 am CET.

The CAC 40 was down 0.23% at 9:15 am CET with Renault, dropping 3.19% at 9:14 am CET, as the worst performer on the index.

The DAX added 0.10% at 9:14 am CET. Wirecard posted the strongest performance as its shares soared 7.25% at 9:18 am CET after the company announced it struck a partnership with SoftBank. SAP surged 6.79% at 9:19 am CET on better-than-expected earnings.

The euro lost 0.15% against the dollar to sell for 1.1211 at 9:20 am CET.
