US markets open mixed amid earnings season

Wall Street opened mixed amid the earnings season on Wednesday, after quarterly reports from Boeing, Caterpillar, Nasdaq, AT&T and Biogen. Earlier in the day, stock futures recovered, but lost some momentum after United States President Donald Trump announced he is sending armed troops to the US southern border with Mexico.

Investors are awaiting earnings reports from Tesla, Facebook, Visa, Microsoft and PayPal at the end of the trading day.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.09% at 9:31 am ET. Caterpillar declined 2.20% at 9:37 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.10% at 9:31 am ET with eBay as its best trading stock as it increased 4.06% at 9:35 am ET following its earnings report which was released after the bell on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 was flat, decreasing 0.03% at 9:32 am ET.

The euro fell 0.35% against the dollar to go for 1.1189 at 9:32 am ET. The pound gained 0.05% against the US currency to change hands at 1.2943 at 9:34 am ET.
