Apple recalls AC adapters on electrical shock risk

Three-prong wall plug adapters manufactured for the British, Hong Kong and Singaporean markets from 2003 to 2010 caused at least six incidents, Apple Inc. said on Thursday and issued a voluntary recall. "In very rare cases," they can break and expose metal parts which may cause an electrical shock if touched, the statement adds.

The alternating current (AC) devices accompanied Mac computers and products running on iOS. The iPhone maker stressed that the move doesn't include its USB power adapters. Users can replace the three-prong items for free after they provide a serial number, the company said. It wrote on its website that they were also shipped with the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit. The technology giant has pulled two-prong AC wall plug adapters from some markets three years ago.
