US deploys aircraft carrier to 'send message' to Iran - Bolton

United States National Security Adviser John Bolton (pictured) stated that USS Abraham Lincoln carrier group along with a bomber task force are being deployed under the US Central Command to "send a message" to Tehran. This deployment should allegedly deter Iran from "any attack against the US or its allies."

"The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces," Bolton's statement concluded.

US Navy's Nimitz-class aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln is currently located in the Mediterranean. The United States Central Command was involved in the Gulf War, the Iraq War, as well as the War in Afghanistan. Earlier, media reported that Washington will impose "significant new sanctions" against one of Iran's previously unaffected sectors of the economy.
