Huawei to request US court to lift govt ban

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. stated that it would ask a court in the United States to lift the ban the US Commerce Department previously imposed on the company, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported. The company claimed that the ban is unconstitutional and it is planning to file for a so-called "motion for summary judgment," requesting the court to rule in its favor as a matter of law.

"The bill directly determines that Huawei is guilty and imposed a large number of restrictions on Huawei," the company’s legal adviser Song Liuping pointed out, adding "it is hoped that the US courts will declare the Huawei ban unconstitutional and prohibit its enforcement."

Following the ban, a number of companies, including Google and Microsoft decided to cut off deals with Huawei. Additionally, major global mobile carriers, such as Vodafone and Softbank, suspended Huawei shipments in order to comply with the US ban.
