Russia, China to expand bilateral use of ruble, yuan

Russia's President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday that his country and China will work to expand the use of national currencies in bilateral relations, including settlements and trade.

At a press conference in Moscow, the two leaders affirmed that the Iran nuclear deal needs to be upheld, despite the withdrawal of the United States who were one of the main signatories of the deal. Xi noted that China and Russia, both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, want to defend the "UN-based international system," international law and trade.

Moscow and Beijing signed around 30 documents during Xi's state visit, including a cooperation agreement between oil companies Sibur Holding and Sinopec Group.
