Walmart to launch InHome delivery service

Walmart Inc. announced early on Friday that it will offer customers the option of delivering groceries to their homes even when they are not there. The new service called InHome Delivery will be avaiable from this fall in three United States cities: Kansas City, Missouri; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Vero Beach, Florida.

When shoppers choose the InHome Delivery option, Walmart associates will enter their homes using smart entry technology and will have a wearable camera on themselves to allow customers to "control access into their homes" by watching the delivery.

"Part of our core eCommerce strategy is to innovate for the future and leverage our unique assets. The technology powering InHome Delivery combines the power of our store footprint, store associates and world-class fresh supply chain. Now we can serve customers not just in the last mile, but in the last 15 feet," Walmart stated.
