Mexican peso regains tariff threat losses
The Mexican peso jumped on Monday, regaining what it lost compared to the United States dollar since President Donald Trump threatened with a 5% tariff on all goods from the southern neighbor. The Mexican currency fell to its lowest point this year 10 days ago.
Trump announced on Saturday that Mexico agreed to take strong measures against migration towards the US and buy "large quantities of agricultural products," which allowed for suspending the trade duties.
The US dollar dropped 2.14% against the peso at 9:16 am CET, buying 19.20446. The euro fell 2.48% against the Mexican currency, going for 21.69250.
