Nintendo moves part of production out of China - report

Japanese video game company Nintendo plans to move some production of its Switch gaming console from China to Southeast Asia as part of the firm's preparations for possible United States tariffs on Chinese-made electronics, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday citing sources from within the company.

Nintendo has reportedly already started Switch production in Southeast Asia, including the current type and two new models that are likely to be rolled out soon.

Nintendo's reported move comes as a number of Asian tech giants try to cope with the prospect of a full-blown US-China trade war by exploring the possibility of relocating production out of China. Earlier this week, Taiwan's Foxconn voiced its readiness to move assembly of Apple's iPhones out of the communist country, while Japan's Sharp hinted at moving the production of personal computers to Taiwan or Vietnam.
