US Senate panel agrees on $4.5B border funding - reports

United States Senate Appropriations Committee members agreed on a $4.5 billion border funding package, media reported. The deal was struck between the committee Chairman, Republican Richard Shelby, and top Democratic member Patrick Leahy. It is expected to be voted on before the July 4th recess, according to the Hill.

The package allegedly includes $2.8 billion for the Office of Refugee Resettlement and no funds for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as congressional Democrats opposed the idea. A House Democratic aide told the Hill that House Democrats have not yet seen the details of the deal and have not decided whether to approve it.
