Johnson wins 3rd round of Tory leadership race, Stewart out

Former United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary and London mayor Boris Johnson moved one step closer to becoming the new British prime minister by winning the third round of the Tory leadership contest that took place on Wednesday. Johnson came on top after garnering the support of 143 out of 313 Conservative MPs, 17 more than in the previous round.

International Development Secretary Rory Stewart was eliminated from the contest after winning just 27 votes, 10 less than in the previous round. Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt came in second with 54 votes, 8 more than yesterday. Michael Gove and Sajid Javid both managed to progress to the fourth round by taking 51 and 38 votes, respectively.
