TSA sends over 300 workers to Mexico border

United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) sent between 350 and 400 workers to the US-Mexico border, where they are supposed to help enforce the Trump administration's immigration policies, TSA Administrator David Pekoske stated.

Acting TSA Deputy Administrator Patricia Cogswell explained that the officers, who normally work at airports, were encouraged to volunteer for the transfer. She said they are deployed on a 45-day cycle, after which they have the option of extending their stay at the border. Meanwhile, Pekoske asserted that the officers' absence will not have a negative impact on airport security ahead of the summer travel season, as "a relatively small number" of employees has been sent to the border, and the TSA ensured that their home airports are adequately staffed.
