Dollar falls against major currencies after Trump tweet

The dollar fell against a number of world currencies on Wednesday after United States President Donald Trump said in a tweet that his country needs to "match" the European Union and China in "currency manipulation."

After trading flat earlier in the session, the euro was 0.08% up against the dollar to go for 1.12937 at 10:37 am ET. Right after the president's remarks, the euro hit a daily high of 1.13115 compared to the US currency.

Meanwhile, the dollar declined 0.15% against the yen and was at 107.7350 at 10:40 am ET. The greenback lost 0.23% compared to the Canadian dollar at 10:36 am ET and changed hands at 1.30775. The US currency lost 0.06% compared to the Swiss franc, trading at 0.98576 at 10:42 am ET and the Australian dollar jumped 0.63% against the dollar to go for 0.70364 at 10:43 am ET.
