Trump threatens India for tariffs on US merchandise

United States President Donald Trump sharpened the rhetoric on Tuesday in the growing trade dispute with India. His administration rescinded in late May the preferential status for the other country's products worth billions of dollars and introduced levies. The change affected the Generalized System of Preference program after the intention to make it was announced in March. The portfolio affected almost two thousand products, with some estimates putting the cost for American businesses at more than $300 million.

"India has long had a field day putting Tariffs on American products. No longer acceptable!" he tweeted from his personal account.
